Embracing all ages in all markets, wool continues to be the fibre of choice for many. Its unique journey from the sheep's back to the consumer is vital knowledge for anyone involved in the design and retail of wool and woollen apparel.
This course is designed to introduce designers, merchandisers, and retailers to Australian wool fibre and its unique characteristics and applications. It will provide participants with an understanding of the processing route from fibre to fabric, 21st century advanced manufacturing methodologies and high tech innovations. Also included is a tour of CSIRO's extensive processing facilities that will provide a comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing processes involved in converting raw wool fibre to luxurious garments that are merchantable the world over.
Participants are also invited to an optional day of practical designing and application of software through CAD systems at RMIT's design studio in Melbourne.
